Ana Marcela Cunha, Marathon Swimming World Champion, will take part in one of the main competitions in the International Swimming Federation’s Grand Prix: the Capri-Napoli Crossing Race, in Italy. The race’s 49th edition, over a distance of 22.3 miles, will take place on September 7th.

Since Ana Marcela is a big fan of Ayrton Senna, the swimmer’s sponsor, Englishtown – which is also an Ayrton Senna Institute partner – has come up with an unique and innovative idea for the race: she’ss going to wear a customized green-and-yellow swim cap, alluding to the helmet that became Ayrton Senna’s symbol.

“Since I was born in 1992, I wasn’t alive during his time, but his competitive spirit taught me how to face what seemed impossible and how to turn my athletic dreams into reality”, says the young Brazilian swimmer.

2014 is a special year because it marks the 20th anniversary of our three-time F1 world champion’s legacy. Since the beginning of the year, the driver has been honored all around the world.
