October 28 is International Animation Day, an ideal date to highlight a few animated films that feature or were inspired by Ayrton Senna.

McLaren

In this funny installment of its “Tooned 500” series, McLaren takes a look at Senna’s strong personality. In the episode about the three-time champion’s story, Ayrton was dubbed by his nephew, Ayrton Senna. Fernando Alonso and Sérgio Perez, who were McLaren’s drivers in the 2013 season, also appear in the animated short.

#OnThePulseOfBrazil

The #OnThePulseOfBrazil campaign was aimed at the Olympic and Paralympic athletes who competed in Rio de Janeiro, representing Brazil in 2016. The video traveled the world and received several international awards, such as the Silver Lion at the International Festival of Creativity, in Cannes, France.

Senna vs. Senna

This animation was made in the last decade, and it shows all the cars driven by Senna in his career. As the years go by, each car is overtaken by a newer model.

2014 Brazilian GP

In 2014, Globo TV used the Brazilian GP’s opening bumper as an opportunity to pay tribute to the 20th anniversary of Ayrton Senna’s legacy, with an animation that features some of the driver’s best moments in F1. The Brazilian’s McLaren glides through the Interlagos circuit and as the corners go by, the audience gets a glimpse of historic images of the driver.

Senninha

We couldn’t end this list without mentioning Senninha – the character created in honor of the three-time champion by cartoonists Ridaut Dias Jr. and Rogério Martins. The character was launched in 1994, and now appears in all kinds of media, always with the goal of furthering children’s education and bringing the motor sports idol closer to kids.
