The motor racing world has paid several homages to Ayrton Senna on the date the Brazilian driver’s birthday. Using social networks, like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, F-1 teams and both Brazilian and foreign drivers expressed themselves today with beautiful messages celebrating the memory of the three-time F-1 world champion.

McLaren, with which Senna won his three titles (1988-1990-1991), highlighted the doodle honoring the Brazilian driver on the world’s biggest search website, Google. Lotus, Toro Rosso and Mercedes GP also paid tribute.

In the case of the German team – winner of the season’s first Grand Prix, in Australia, last Sunday – the hashtag #ObrigadoAyrton (“Thank you Ayrton” in Portuguese) was retweeted by their driver, Lewis Hamilton, who always mentions Senna as his greatest idol.

Brazilian drivers who race in the class have also spoken up, like Felipe Massa, Williams’ race driver, and Felipe Nasr, the team’s test driver. The Brazilian Sock Car Championship’s first race will be held this weekend, in São Paulo, and several drivers honored Senna at the Interlagos Circuit.
