Estrella Galicia, 0,0, the Spanish brand of alcohol-free beer has brought together two of the Brazilian people’s greatest passions: Formula One and soccer. As sponsor of both Corinthians and the Toro Rosso team, the brand proposed a challenge between Carlos Sainz and Danill Kvyat, drivers of the Italian F1 team, which took place on November 9, last Wednesday. The athletes had the chance to display their athletic abilities in other sports and honor Ayrton Senna, a three-time F1 world champion, by donating a helmet signed by Sainz, a T-shirt and a musical instrument to the Ayrton Senna Institute. The items will be auctioned and all the proceedings will be reverted to the Institute.
The competition, held at Arena Corinthians, was divided in two parts. First, both drivers had to show their skill as gamers by playing Gran Turismo 6 – a Playstation exclusive title. They drove Ayrton Senna go-karts at the Silverstone raceway, in England. Afterwards, they were introduced to the Arena Corinthians soccer pitch, where their talents as strikers were put to the test. The young drivers had a lot of fun in the field and proved they know how to handle a football.
There was a reason behind the homage to the three-time world champion: Ayrton Senna was a Corinthians fan, and his talent keeps inspiring several of the club’s players as well as young drivers like Sanz and Kvyat, who dream of becoming champions of the main category in the world of motor ports.
Moreover, the work being done by the Ayrton Senna Institute to give more opportunities to young Brazilians through education are in line with the actions taken by Estrela Galicia 0,0. The brand has built a training and competition structure with the intent of discovering and preparing young F1 drivers and Motorcycle Racing riders.
“Estrella Galicia 0,0’s mission is to look after the sport’s new generations, without forgetting those who contributed to the story of F1, motorcycle racing and soccer, like Ayrton Senna, Alex Brros and Sócrates. We’re glad to promote a challenge involving two sports sponsored by our brand that have millions of fans all over Brazil and to revert the profits to the Ayrton Senna Institute, which has been doing a great job in fostering culture and education”, says the Marketing Director of Estrella Galicia in Brazil, Juan Paz.
“In the week of the Brazilian F1 Grand Prix, we have the pleasure of taking part in this partnership with Estrella Galicia 0,0, Corinthians and the Toro Rosso team. Our mission is to keep Ayrton Senna’s legacy alive by bringing it to more and more people, and this event is a great to do that. It fills us with pride to see that he’s admired by a new generation, not just because of his skill as a driver, but because of the values he held out of the track, which still inspire fans of all ages”, says Bianca Senna, Branding Director of the Ayrton Senna institute.
“We’re very proud in being able to put together two great brands, Corinthians and Estrella Galicia, and two passions of the Brazilian people, auto racing and soccer, in honor of the greatest idol the sport, our country and our fans have ever seen. Not to mention it happened in our home and with a greater purpose, which is to keep supporting the fantastic work that Ayrton Senna Institute has been doing”, says Gustavo Herbetta, Corinthians Superintendent of Marketing.
Estrella Galicia 0,0 also promotes another initiative besides sports: the responsible consumption of alcohol. “We offer a premium alcohol-free product that is compatible with safe driving”, says Paz.
