Besides the several Guns N’ Roses hits that marked the band’s concert last friday, in São Paulo, like “Paradise City”, “Patience”, “Sweet Child o’ Mine” and “Don’t Cry”, the audience was in for a surprise.
The American group led by Axl Rose paid tribute to one of Brazil’s greatest idols: Ayrton Senna. The 22 thousand people in attendance, at Anhembi, saw guitarist Bulblefoot play part of the song that used to score the driver’s conquests on F-1 Sundays, the “Victory Theme”.
In 1993, Ayrton Senna’s career was marked by another homage at a rock and roll concert. Tina Turner dedicated her song “Simply the Best”, one of her biggest international hits, to the Brazilian driver. She even invited him to the stage, during the concert to celebrate the closing of that year’s F-1 season, which ended with a brilliant win by Senna on the streets of Adelaide.
