The Enzo and Dino Ferrari Circuit and the city of Imola are gearing up for a grand celebration of Ayrton Senna’s 30-year legacy starting in March. The Italian region is part of the three-time champion’s history and is a significant location for fans worldwide.
During a press conference held this week, the main attractions were announced, which will also commemorate the three decades since the fatal accident involving the driver Roland Ratzenberger, also during the San Marino GP. The press event took place in Italy and was promoted by the municipality of Imola and the Circuit Administration in partnership with Senna Brands and Instituto Ayrton Senna; Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and the Emilia-Romagna Region.
The CEO of Senna Brands and the pilot’s niece, Bianca Senna, attended the press conference and stated that Italy is in pole position for global tributes to Senna in 2024: “Events like these help keep Ayrton’s memory alive and perpetuate the legacy he left for future generations.”
The schedule includes exhibitions, sports events, shows, and social actions that will take place from March 21 – the date Ayrton would have turned 64 – to June 2, with a special focus on May 1. Between these dates, two international races are scheduled at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari Circuit: the 6 Hours of Imola, the second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), from April 19 to 21, and the Emilia-Romagna Formula 1 Grand Prix, from May 17 to 19.
The press conference was attended by the CEO of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali, who said that Ayrton’s legacy is extraordinary and has contributed to improvements in safety procedures and the future of motorsport. “We have experienced difficult moments, but we must try to remember the aspects that make us look to the future. We know that many things have changed in the sport since that tragic situation.”

The “MAGIC. Ayrton Senna – Imola 1994-2024” exhibition kicks off the program on March 21st. The San Domenico museum will showcase 94 unpublished photos taken by photographers Angelo Orsi and Mirco Lazzari, highlighting both Senna’s unforgettable achievements and his human and intimate side. The exhibition will run until June 2nd.
Other events include the “Ayrton Senna from Kobra to Pierotti” route on March 23rd, the “Non esiste curva dove non si possa sorpassare” exhibition at the municipal library from April 16th to June 1st, and Marco Isola’s “ImolAyrton” exhibition from April 18th to 21st, May 1st to 3rd, and May 16th to 19th.
The “Ayrton and Roland Day” on May 1st is the highlight of the program, featuring a morning race/walk dedicated to Ayrton Senna at the Autodromo, followed by a commemoration ceremony at 2:17 PM at the Tamburello corner, the site of the accident. There will also be a football tournament, theatrical event, Brazilian party, and other activities throughout the day.
In the city, a “city dressing” is planned to accompany fans arriving by car via the main access route and by train from the station to the historic center, passing through the Autodromo. The complete schedule is available HERE.
