Traditionally, the month of May is when tributes to Ayrton Senna pop up around the world and, in 2017, the calendar of events prepared by the Ayrton Senna institute will include several special actions in Brazil and abroad.
On May 1st, the Ayrton Senna do Brasil square will be opened in one of the most affluent areas of São Paulo, the neighborhood of Paraíso, next to Ibirapuera Park. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 AM, with city officials, fans and the Institute’s president, Viviane Senna, in attendance.
Another attraction Will be the “Ayrton Senna Concept Box” wagon, with an exhibit of original items that belonged to the three-time champion and the selling of official merchandise. Developed by Truckvan, a company that specializes in solutions on wheels and a partner in the project, the wagon will be parked at the Modelódromo Sports and Leisure Center, at 290 Curitiba Street, the same address where the square is located.
Fans Who are unable to attend the May 1st ceremony Will have the chance to visit the “Ayrton Senna Concept Box” wagon from May 2 to 21, at Shopping Eldorado (3970 Rebouças Avenue – Pinheiros), in the West region of São Paulo.
Other parts of Brazil Will also host tributes: the “Ayrton Senna Hearts and Minds” exhibit is still in Minas Gerais , featuring helmets that were customized by famous personalities and original items that belonged to Senna. The exhibit takes place at the Usiminas Cultural Center , in Ipatinga, until May 20. In Rio Grande do Sul, Senna will be honored in the Stock Car championship, with teams and drivers honoring the three-time world champion in the season’s third race, which takes place on May 21, in Santa Cruz do Sul (RS).
Two great attractions are already schedules overseas, in two iconic places in motor sports: Monaco and Indianapolis. In the US, current British F3 champion, Matheus Leist, will be paying tribute to his idol during his debut at the legendary circuit in the preliminary race of the traditional Indy 500.
Lots of festivities will take place on the streets of Monte Carlo . This year marks the 30th anniversary of Senna’s first win in the Principality, starting the unrivaled sequence of six wins that would give the Brazilian the nickname of “King of Monaco”.
On the week of the Grand Prix, a new collection of clothes for the Ayrton Senna Store will be launched. A statue of the driver will also be unveiled, as well as a customized room at the traditional Fairmont Hotel – after which the most famous corner of the circuit is named – besides other attractions all over the city.
You will be able to find the full coverage of these tributes on Senna TV, the driver’s official channel on social media, which turns one year old this May, with a series of exclusive videos and most-watch stories for the driver’s fans.
