To mark the 30th anniversary of Ayrton Senna’s debut at F-1 and the 20th anniversary of his legacy, Proud Galleries presents the “Senna: photographs by Keith Sutton” exhibition, already in display in London, England. The exhibit is an exhilarating celebration of the man many consider the world’s greatest driver.
The collection of photographs comes from a partnership between the Ayrton Senna Institute and Sutton Images. All pictures were taken by photographer Keith Sutton, who followed Senna’s career from the beginning of his career in Formula Ford until his accident in San Marino, in 1994.
The photographer’s relationship with Senna began when the young driver, still in Formula Ford, in 1981, approached Keith asking if he was a professional photographer. “When I said I was, he said he needed photos of him racing to send to Brazil. On that day he won his first race and I got some great photos of him celebrating on the podium”, says Keith.
So began the working relationship between Keith and Ayrton. Over time, the photographer ended up recording Senna’s entire career, both on the racetrack and in more private moments, building a vast archive of the Formula One three-time champion.
