This Wednesday, at the Ayrton Senna Institute, in São Paulo, the official “Ayrton Senna 20 Years” commemorative coin was launched. Minted in pure silver, the first unit of the historic object was presented by French company ART MINT to the Institute’s representatives.

The piece weighs 31.1 grams in silver, has a 36.6 millimeter diameter, and only 699 units will be minted, making it a very rare item for collectors and fans of the three-time F1 world champion.

The coin bears the Brazilian driver’s likeness, a laurel wreath and his car, besides his dates of birth and passing (1960/1994). The other side shows the coin’s nominal value and the effigy of British monarch Elizabeth II, Queen of Niue, the country that is issuing the coin.

In Brazil, the coins are already being sold by R$ 295, and you can buy them by following this link.

For the first time in history, a personality is honored in a foreign coin that features their likeness in color.

It’s another great homage in celebration of Ayrton Senna’s 20-year legacy.
