To celebrate 30 years of Ayrton Senna’s Formula One debut, two series of chrome-plated helmets have just been launched, with 161 units each – an allusion to the number of F-1 Gran Prixes in which the driver raced. The event is part of the celebrations regarding the 20-year anniversary of the three-time champion’s legacy.

Senna’s first experience in auto racing’s main class took place in March 25th 1984, at the Brazilian Grand Pix, in Jacarepaguá, Rio de Janeiro.

There will be two series of chrome-plated helmets: F-1 Wins Series and Go Kart Bercy (1993). The pieces were created by designer Alan Mosca, whose father, Sid Mosca, was also a designer and responsible for creating Ayrton Senna`s helmets throughout his career in Formula One.

The helmet number 01 of Go Kart Bercy (1993) series was auctioned at the III Gala Miami, organized in the US by BrazilFoundation, where the Ayrton Senna Institute (IAS) was also honored. The luxury item, offered exclusively at the occasion, was sold for $28,000. The amount was split between IAS and BrazilFoundation.

Fans who wish to have one of the commemorative pieces can learn more about how to acquire them at www.sidmoscastore.com.br/categoria/capacetes.mstp. Each unit of either series is sold for R$ 4.900,00 (around $2,125). Part of the sales’ revenue goes to the IAS.
