Last Wednesday (July 1st), the results of a worldwide survey on who is the best driver of all time were revealed. Comissioned by the GPDA (Grand Prix Drivers Association) and Motorsports.com, the poll shows that Ayrton Senna is the clear fan favorite. The podium of great past drivers was rounded out by Michael Schumacher, in second place, and Alain Prost, in third.

The three biggest winners in Formula One history usually gather the most votes in this type of study, but this result was even more revealing, since most of the respondents were Brittons, followed by Frenchmen, with the Germans in fifth place and Brazilians in tenth.

In total more than 217 thousand people were surveyed in 194 countries. The questionnaire could be accessed through social networks between May 22nd and June 8th.

The research also touched on other interesting subjects, such as “which era had the best looking F1 cars?”, “how do you follow F1?” and “what would you like to see changed in F1”. To read the full results, just click here and download the PDF file.

The GPDA is the entity that represents Formula One drivers and their ideals. Motorsport.com is one of the world’s main motor sports websites and media companies.
