Detroit Grand Prix – 1985

Voltar

Ayrton Senna did his fourth pole position in Detroit and was confident and at ease, facing the race challenges on that North American street circuit.

His strategy was based on not losing points to Nigel Mansell (Williams), being that he was planning to dictate the races pace and in that way, preserve the Lotus’s wheels while the tank was full.

After the start, Ayrton Senna took the lead for seven laps, but fell back due to brake problems.

Even so, he maintained podium position for the majority of the race. However, a brake system failure caused a bigger problem on lap 51 and the front wheels locked and the car spun out of control.

Once more out of the race, Ayrton Senna had to be satisfied with another Grand Prix fastest lap scoring.
