Besides winning the “Million Reais Race”, Rubens Barrichello took home another major trophy for his collection. By scoring the pole position in the special Stock Car event, the driver was given a gilded Ayrton Senna statue, created by artist Wilson Iguti.

The piece was specially designed to honor the three-time F1 champion’s 20-year legacy. It portrays the driver’s trademark stance, holding the helmet at the side of his body, when posing for photographers.

“Everybody knows how much it means to me to have competed in Formula One alongside the “boss”, and to have witnessed and experienced something many can only dream of. So, it was a joy to have fought for the pole position. I’ll be able to take home the trophy and, most importantly, pass it along to my son”, said Rubens.

Barrichello received the trophy from Paola Santilli, on behalf of the Ayrton Senna Institute, right after the qualifying session. All the cars in the “Million Reais Race” displayed the “Senna Sempre” sticker on the front of their liveries.
