After three seasons and 48 Grands Prix with Lotus, Senna said goodbye to the English team in Australia, with six wins and 16 pole positions, leaving a historic mark on the old Colin Chapman team.
There was one race left, and he would start off in fourth.
He finished in 10th, but was disqualified because the race stewards registered an irregularity in the size of the brake pads. He finished the championship in third place, behind the Williams drivers, with 57 points. Only four points behind the runner-up, Nigel Mansell.
In the race, the Ferrari twosome, Gerhard Berger e Michele Alboreto, were impressive.
In 1988, Senna would have a new life, with McLaren. The time had come for him be the star of Formula 1 seasons with his unique talent.

It was a good last race with the Camel Team Lotus Honda, and I have really great memories of those three years that I was here. (before finding out about the disqualification).
